Responsibility by the family, the church and the Vanua is the key to fully rehabilitating inmates once they have been released from prison.
These are the words of Fiji Prisons Correctional Services Commissioner, Brigadier General Iowane Naivalurua on what role friends and family should play once inmates have been released.
Naivalurua adds the Yellow Ribbon Project which started in October 2008 is succeeding in its aim to better the lives of inmates and to change the perception of society towards them, after their release from prison.
Meanwhile, the Labasa Police Officers together with the general public will this Saturday visit the Vaturekuka Prison with an aim to engage in talks with the inmates.
Divisional Police Commander Northern, ASP Isikeli Ligairi said this is a good opportunity for the people of North to visit the inmates.
Ligairi adds they will utilise this visit in helping out inmates to better their lives when they leave prison.
