Family mourns toddler killed in house fire
The National fire Authority revealed the 13 month old baby was at home alone with his three year old brother while their father was in the sugarcane field while their mother was at a neighbou's house.
NFA's preliminary investigations suggest that the probable cause of the fire was child playing with matches and the fire may have started from the mattress.
The three year old boy escaped the fire however his younger brother was caught in the flames inside the house and was not able to escape.
Acting Chief Executive, Jone Koroi says that this is a very unfortunate case as the parents were left unsupervised.
The fire destroyed a lean-to corrugated iron house, and investigations continue.
Meanwhile, a similar incident happened in May in Nabua where young children were left alone at home resulting in one of child playing with matches and accidentally setting fire to the house.
This incident claimed the life of a younger sibling who could not escape.
