A family in Deuba village is mourning the sudden death of a family member following an fatal accident on Friday.
37-year-old Aminitoni Waqanivalu died instantly after the vehicle he was travelling in allegedly tumbled and landed in a drain along the Deuba feeder road on Friday afternoon.
His father Laikini Ratulevu said he could not believe what had happened when he heard about the sad news.
Ratulevu said he did not know that Waqanivalu was part of a drinking party early Friday morning.
He said Waqanivalu was sleeping on Thursday night when he received a call from a friend to attend a drinking party.
Waqanivalu will be laid to rest on Friday.
He is survived by his wife Inise and two children.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old driver is still in police custody.
Police said there were 11 other passengers in the vehicle when the incident happened.
