Family of two are homeless after a fire this morning destroyed their two bedroom house.

National Fire Authority said they received a call from a neighbour after 10 this morning and the fire fighters fought hard against windy weather conditions to contain the blaze from spreading to an adjacent house which was located four meters from the fire scene.

The owner of the house and his wife were away at work when the fire started and initial investigations indicate the fire could have started from a prayer diya.

NFA Divisional Fire Officer Isoa Makutu has urged people to ensure that all fire ignitions are put off before leaving their homes.
