A family of nine today are counting their lucky stars after they escaped injuries from a fire that destroyed their house this morning.

National Fire Authority Manager Corporate Affairs Mileta Ting said the three bedroom concrete and timber house was completely destroyed in a fire that is believed to have started from a stove which was left unattended.

The fire started around 9am this morning and when the fire fighters arrived at the scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
 
According to NFA, the owner, his wife and seven grandchildren were inside the house when the fire started but no one received injuries.
