The family of Nakelo villager Nimilote Verebasaga believes the three year sentence given to Soldier Private Maika Vuniwawa is unfair.
Verebasaga's younger brother Inieri Semo said the penalty should have been harsher, as Verebasaga had done nothing wrong to deserve the treatment he had received.
Meanwhile, Vuniwawa's lawyer Haroon Ali Shah is also unhappy.
He said he had received instructions from his client to appeal both the conviction and sentence.
