Police are advising members of the public not to leave their young children alone at home.
This comes after a family in Vunidawa lost all its belongings when their house caught fire yesterday afternoon.
Divisional Crime Officer Eastern, ASP Ramesh Chand has confirmed that investigations reveal that the parents were in the farm leaving their three young children at home.
Initial investigations reveal that the 4 year old child was playing with matches when the mattress caught fire and spread quickly.
Neighbours came to the rescue and managed to remove two twins aged 4 years and their 11 months old sister from the burning house.
No one received injuries.
