A family of 6 were left homeless last night after a fire completely destroyed their 3 bedroom semi concrete/corrugated iron house in Raviravi, Ba.

The National Fire Authority said that the family decided to extinguish the fire themlselves and then called the Fire authorities when they failed to put out the fire.

NFA said that six people received minor injuries and were treated at the hospital. NFA investigations show the fire was caused by firewood ambers which were not properly extinguished after cooking.

NFA's Station Officer Ba, Varasiko Tabua said that there is a lesson to be learnt from this unfortunate incident and has called on people to put out any fire completely after use. He is also urging people to call the Fire Brigade on 911 immediately instead of trying to first extinguish it.

Meanwhile, a family of Balata Tavua lost everything in a fire also yesterday which started from a cane farm.

The occupants of the house managed to escape unharmed.
