A Wainibokasi Nausori family who lost everything in a fire early this morning is calling for assistance to re-build their house.
We spoke to 42 year old Bimla Devi, owner of the five bedroom house and a widow with two children. She said they are left with only clothes on their back.
According to Devi she used to earn a living by operating a yaqona business from home.
Devi, her two children and another relative were in the house around 2am however the occupants of the house managed to escape. They are currently sheltering at a relative’s house in the neighborhood.
Firefighters are cooling down hotspots at the sight as police are conducting interviews of occupants and eyewitnesses.
National Fire Authority in Nausori confirms receiving the report of the fire around 2am and upon reaching Ratu Kadavulevu road in Wainibokasi, the house was completely on fire and could not be saved.
The cause of fire and estimated cost of damage is still unknown at the moment.
