Two families in the Western Division have lost all their belongings in two separate fire incidents this week.
A family of four at Malolo Village in Nadi are homeless after a fire destroyed their three bedroom house on Monday morning.
When the fire broke out, a 40 year old woman who was in the house managed to escape unharmed through the front door.
The 30-year-old structure made of corrugated iron and timber together with the household contents was completely destroyed by fire.
The total value was estimated around $25,000.
In another fire incident at Clopcott Street in Ba, a three bedroom house was destroyed on Saturday afternoon leaving a family of four homeless.
The total value of the house together with the household contents was estimated around $120,000.
Statistics have revealed that the common causes of home fires have been: electrical related, unattended cooking, children playing with matches, candles, diyas, lanterns, mosquito coils and these can be prevented with extra care.
