The Police along with some business houses have taken on the responsibility to try and provide food rations to some 1000 people taking refuge at the evacuation centers in Namaka area with still no sign of the Red Cross in the area.
Officer in Charge of Community Policing, Narayan Sami Naiker told Fijivillage that families at the centers have no food to eat. He also confirms that since the flooding started in the Nadi area, the Red Cross is yet to visit a single evacuation center with emergency supplies.
Naiker said they also expect the numbers at the evacuation centers to increase by this evening.
