Our women have broken barriers and continue to do so.
These are sentiments of Chief Registrar and Acting Chief Magistrate, Ana Rokomokoti speaking at the Fiji Human Rights Commission brochure launch this morning.
Rokomokoti said that we should not be ignorant that women have and remain to play significant roles in our society.
Meanwhile to mark International Women's Day today, the Fiji Women's Rights Movement will launch slogan t-shirts focussing on 10 to 14yr old girls as international and local research has shown that these ages fall through the gaps or are not focussed on.
FWRM Executive Director Virisila Buadromo said more often than not, the focus is on either children or women and these age groups are left out.
Buadromo said the t-shirt slogans will be based on the beliefs of these young girls and under the International Women's Day theme Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities: Progress for All.
This initiative will be held at 4.30 this afternoon at the MHCC in Suva.
