Fiji Women’s Crisis Center and Red Rock Rugby has signed a sponsorship agreement of 2 years contract of $20,000.
Coordinator of the Fiji Women’s Crisis Center, Shamima Ali said this is part the FWCC campaign to eliminate all forms of violence against women and to promote gender equality particularly in any sports field.
Ali said that players will be their male advocates and also raise awareness and to speak the language of women’s human rights in the communities.
She said the contracts also stimulates that none of the players will indulge in behavior that will be in total contradiction to the principle of the Fiji Women’s Crisis Center such as domestic violence, rapist behavior, or sexual harassment.
She added that the players should be ambassadors for stopping violence against women and if any of that happens and investigated and are proven to be true they reserve the right to withdraw sponsorship for the team.
The Fiji Women’s Crisis Center Red Rock 7s tournament will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Ratu Cakobau Park.
