Fiji Women's Crisis Centre (FWCC) is planning to set up special committees in efforts to eliminate violence against women.
Co-ordinator Shameema Ali said there is a need to create more awareness on violence against women and these committees will assist a lot.
She added that by the end of six years she is hoping to establish six committees in Vanualevu, Bua, Kadavu, Lakeba, Lomaiviti and Koro.
A study carried out by Fiji Women's Crisis Centre reveal that 66 percent of women surveyed had experienced physical violence from their partner and approximately 30 percent of victims reported being subjected to repeated abuse.
