Concerns have been raised by the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre that more women are now becoming victims of violence.

According to the statistics revealed by FWCC, a total of 1,175 cases of violence against women have been reported.

Deputy Co-ordinator for FWCC, Edwina Kotoisuva said till October this year, a total of 594 cases of domestic violence, 15 rape cases, 17 sexual harassment, 43 child abuse cases and 506 other cases.

Kotoisuva also revealed that while 58% of domestic violence cases were reported by Indo Fijians, only 26% of sexual assault and rape cases were reported by them, whereas sexual assault cases and rape cases reported by Fijians is 54% and domestic violence cases 36%.
