We are all equal and it is shocking to learn that so many women are victims of domestic violence in Fiji.
Those were the words of Mataiasi Nabau the President Nawaka Tikina Youth Council who is one of the 45 men, Turaga ni Koros, village elders, community leaders, advisory attending the week long Nadi Women's Crisis Centre Male Advocacy training.
Nabau said it was shocking to hear firsthand the way women in Fiji are being treated, adding he does not see why women should be treated any different from men as we are all equal.
Meanwhile, FWCC Coordinator Shamima Ali said this event is a significant one as this is the first time that this type of training is being conducted, adding this is part of the preventative work that the Centre is doing on violence against women.
The workshop ends today.
