As the tourism industry hangs by a thread, the interim Tourism Minister Bernadette Ganilau has revealed that the Fiji Visitors Bureau is now in desperate need for extra funding.

Speaking to Village News this afternoon, Ganilau revealed that they have not been able to secure the $2 million promised by the interim government which the industry is now heavily depending on.

Ganilau also revealed that despite a few advertising campaigns in Australia and New Zealand, Fiji remains invisible and more funds are now needed.

The interim government had initially allocated $3.8 million for various advertising campaigns which has been reduced to $2 million.

The Permanent Secretary for Finance Peceli Vocea had said earlier that efforts are being made to release the much needed funds to the Visitors Bureau however he could not confirm when it will be provided.
