The Fiji Trades Union Congress has rejected claims made by one of its affiliated unions that FTUC has compromised its principles by taking up positions offered by the Interim government.
FTUC President, Daniel Urai said he and the Union General Secretary, Felix Anthony are in the FNPF board and its subsidiary board to protect the interest of its members and other workers who are struggling to meet their daily needs.
Urai said he is surprised that people like Bal Ram are raising the issue more than a year after they were appointed to the boards.
The FTUC President added that they have never supported a coup and will never do so in the future.
Early this morning, the FTU President Bal Ram said some of the executives of the FTUC continue to cry for democracy to be restored in Fiji and at the same time are taking up positions offered by the Interim regime.
He said after the 1987 and the 2000 coups, the FTUC strongly criticized the people behind the events and now after the December 5th takeover many executives are seen sitting on various boards.
