The Fiji Teachers Union believes the move to abolish Fiji Intermediate and Fiji Eighth Year Examination is a good move.
General Secretary, Agni Deo Singh said students at this level should not be sitting external examination as they are not prepared enough for this.
Three of the five external examinations from Fiji's education system will be abolished by 2011.
Fiji Intermediate Examination will be abolished by next year while the Fiji Eighth Year and Fiji Junior Certificate Examination will be abolished by 2011.
