The Fiji Taxi Union has applied for an increase in taxi fare.
Union general secretary Rishi Ram said depending on cost structure, they have given their submission to Transport Minister Timoci Natuva who has forwarded it to the Land Transport Authority.
Ram refused to reveal details about how much increase has been applied for.
The Land Transport Authority is still going through taxi fare increase submissions and a decision is expected later this month.
Meanwhile, the last taxi fare increase was given last year, however, following the decrease in fuel price, the taxi fare was reversed to $1 flag fall in January this year.
