The Fiji Taxi Union has written to Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni stating their concern about the illegal van drivers who are now offering cheap fares compared to taxis.
FTU General Secretary Rishi Ram said that it is sad that operators in Lautoka have come out in the media offering cheap rates knowing full well that they are illegal.
The Police Commissioner and the Land Transport Authority are expected to comment later today.
