The Interim Minister for Education, Netani Sukanaivalu said the Fijian Teachers Association has failed in its plan to seriously disrupt the classes of students around the country.
And Sukanaivalu maintains that although the FTA announced yesterday that they have called off the strike, all the teachers who went on strike will not be paid for two weeks.
Meanwhile FICTU General Secretary, Attar Singh said the FTA members will definitely go on strike when school reopens.
While addressing the FTA members yesterday, Singh also said that Sukanaivalu was emotional while announcing the moving forward of this school holidays in a press conference because his contingency plans had failed.
However Sukanaivalu said Attar Singh and other union leaders are to be blamed for the students not going to school.
Sukanaivalu said he feels for the 16,000 students sitting for 8th Year Examination whose exams have been deferred, as 10,000 of them are Fijian students.
