FTA unhappy with PSC discussions
Association General Secretary, Maika Namudu said they should have been included in the discussions as their members are also civil servants.
Namudu adds that Interim Government has taken a very unfair stand by not backdating the remaining four percent pay cut for civil servants.
Permanent Secretary for PSC, Taina Tagicakibau, after meeting with FPSA General Secretary Rajeshwar Singh and Fiji Teachers Union General Secretary Agni Deo Singh, confirmed that the interim government has made its stand that it cannot confirm a timeline to restore the 4 percent.
Tagicakibau also confirms that while the 1 percent pay cut to be restored on December 20th will be backdated to March 8th, it has also been decided that any restoration of the remaining 4% will not include the recovery and will not be backdated.
However, FPSA General Secretary Rajeshwar Singh said they have rejected the proposals as it was earlier agreed that the restoration of the 4 percent will be incorporated in the 2008 budget and the interim government is now backing off from its word.
