As Executives of the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions prepare to file legal action against the interim government, the Fijian Teachers Association said they are willing to wait for as long as it takes to ensure the 5 percent pay cut is restored.

FTA General Secretary Maika Namudu told Village news that while taking the one percent offered by government and negotiate the other 4 percent may have been easier and benefitted the members, there are ready to make the sacrifice even if the matter drags on in the courts.

The FTA, Viti Taukei Workers Union and Public Employees Union will file the necessary papers in court tomorrow and want the entire 5 percent pay cut restored and for the government to honour the payments under the Partnership agreement.

Interim Public Service Minister Poseci Bune had said earlier that they government is willing to fight it out with the Unions in court as they maintain that they can not afford to restore the paycut or make payments under the partnership agreement.
