The Fijian Teachers Association is questioning the Ministry of Education whether they really have a contingency plan or are just trying to come up with answers that are not applicable.

FTA president Tevita Koroi said that he is surprised that the Interim Education Minister is now moving away from using retired teachers to be part of his plan as he knows that the support will not be there for the Ministry.

Koroi added that while the Ministry of Education is looking at using teachers from Fulton, Corpus Christi, Lautoka Teachers College and Advance College to be an option, if the FTA members do go on strike, the Interim Minister should know that most of the schools' management will not welcome the idea since they are inexperienced and also the numbers of teachers coming in will not cater to the FTA members who will be going on strike.
