The Sugarcane Growers Council is still awaiting response from the government on their request not to fully dissolve the council and allow the administrative arm of the council to continue its operations.
Cabinet decided three months ago to dissolve the council by the end of this month and transfer all their operations to Fiji Sugar Corporation, Sugar Institute of Fiji and the Sugar Industry Tribunal.
Council Chairman Jain Kumar is hopeful council is not fully dissolved.
Over a million dollars is needed annually to run the council.
