The Fiji Sugar Corporation is carrying out a number of reforms in the Sugar Industry without government's intervention.
Sugar Ministry Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand said FSC has its own board led by a chairman and are making their own decisions.
According to Chand there won't be a vacuum after the Sugarcane Growers Council is dissolved as farmers interests can be looked after by the Sugar Industry tribunal and the Sugar Research Institute.
The National Farmers Union is currently getting the opinions of sugarcane farmers in different divisions and Western and Northern Division on government's decision to dissolve the Sugarcane Growers Council.
NFU President Sanjit Maharaj said farmers need some form of representation in the industry as all the work cannot be done by the Fiji Sugar Corporation.
Cabinet earlier decided to dissolve the Council in three months as all their operations are expected to be merged with other institutions.
