The Fiji Sports Council has closed the National Stadium Ground.

This means that for the next two weeks, there won't be any rugby or soccer matches played at the National Stadium.

Fiji Sports Council's operations manager Selwyn Williams said they will have to upgrade the ground for the upcoming Battle of the Giants soccer tournament.

Williams said the ground was also not in a good condition after last week's rugby and soccer matches and other works are needed at the Stadium so that OHS passes it before the actual tournament starts on the 24th of this month.

The closure of ground has forced Suva rugby to take their Digicel Cup match against Tailevu to Albert Park this Saturday.
