The Fiji Rugby Union will have to look for other avenues to get more funds to send our Flying Fijians to the Rugby World cup next year.
With the FRU Lottery sales now being calculated, there is doubt the lottery sales will be able cover teams full preparation costs.
As the Lottery team try to establish the total sales of tickets, FRU Chief Executive officer, Keni Dakuidreketi said it’s too early to preempt anything.
Dakuidreketi said he will be able to make a comment soon after lottery sales are released.
Meanwhile, the Government did not allocate any funds for the FRU in next year’s National budget, however Sports Minister, Filipe Bole had confirmed soon after the budget announcement that the Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama will meet with the FRU officials to hear their plea.
It was revealed earlier the FRU needs $7 million to prepare the Flying Fijians for next year’s Rugby World cup in New Zealand.
The cost include, preparing the team, travelling and accommodation costs and build up matches before the Rugby World cup.
The FRU will have to pay out a total of $268,500 in prizes for their lottery draw.
Meanwhile, local Golfer Olaf Allan won the major prize of $100,000 last night.
