The Fiji Rugby Union is still talking with potential sponsors for the national team.

FRU Chairman Filimoni Waqabaca said they are doing a number of things to secure sponsorship.

Waqabaca said with the Digicel sponsorship coming to an end in December, it is highly likely that they will resign.

Waqabaca added that plans of making FRU a profit making entity has been on-going and at this point they have experienced a marginal profit but it can diminish as the year progresses.

Meanwhile the FRU will decide next week on whether Digicel Fiji 7s coach, Alifereti Dere will continue as head coach of the team.

Waqabaca has also confirmed that no one has been appointed as the 7s coach for the upcoming Pacific Mini Games.

Fijivillage contacted High Performance Unit General Manager Mike Ryan on the issue and he said that they are awaiting confirmation from the board.

The Digicel Fiji 7s team for the Pacific Mini Games has been released with Coca-Cola Games blue ribbon champion Beniamino Maravu forcing his way into the squad.
