Fiji Rugby Union official Peter Murphy cannot confirm or deny that he has been charged with drink-driving, just days before he sent a warning that players' consumption of kava and alcohol would be carefully controlled during the World Cup.
Murphy is one of the 15 officials who will accompany the team to France and Wales later this month and has refused to speak on the matter.
NZ Herald reports that Nadi Rugby Union secretary Samu Kailawadoko pointed out the need for all top rugby officials, especially those associated with the upcoming World Cup campaign to act as role models and to "walk the talk".
Murphy has this week warned that measures would be in place for the FMF Flying Fijians during the World Cup to ensure no one drinks excessive kava or alcohol.
The FRU also has declined to comment
