The Fiji Rugby Union will need $5 million to take the Vodafone Flying Fijians to the Rugby World Cup in Europe in September.
FRU Chief Executive Officer Radrodro Tabualevu said they will soon announce a fundraising drive for the public and various stakeholders to come forward and help the national side.
Tabualevu said he cannot reveal how much money from the Vodafone Fiji led consortium sponsorship is allocated for the Rugby World Cup.
He added that the Fiji Sports Commission will be providing the players allowance for the New Zealand Maori test match, the Pacific Nations Cup and the Rugby World Cup.
Meanwhile, Flying Fijians head coach John McKee is hoping that the financial situation is sorted out before the World Cup.
McKee said Fiji will have world class players and management in the tournament.
He added that Waratahs player Taqele Naiyaravoro has verbally agreed to play for Fiji in the Rugby World Cup and McKee is also negotiating with Ben Volavola to play for Fiji.
McKee said they are fortunate to have a lot of international matches before the World Cup including the New Zealand Maori clash on the 11th of next month, PNC from the 18th of next month to August and another test against Canada after the PNC.
