The Fiji Rugby Union is keeping an eye on the IRB 7s series and also the future of the 7s rugby code in the country.

While the Digicel Fiji 7s team is in USA for the Las Vegas tournament at home head coach, Alifereti Dere will work with upcoming players who are likely to be part of the team in the next leg and also the 7s Rugby World Cup next year.

Playing days for veterans like, Setefano Cakau and Emosi Vucago are now limited and Dere has brought in the likes of Wardens Joji Ragamate, Ilai Tinai, Niko Verekauta, Livai Ikanikoda, Sitiveni Waqa, Miti Nacagilevu and Joeli Lutumailagi and former 100 metres sprinter, Mataiasi Savou in his squad which marched into camp in Queen Elizabeth Barracks today.

Meanwhile, the USA 7s is for 3 days and will start on Saturday at 12pm with Fiji taking on Argentina, at 2.56pm Fiji will face host USA and on Sunday at 9.06am Fiji will take on Canada.

Cup quarterfinals will begin at 1.52pm on Sunday.

Cup semifinals will begin at 7.32am on Monday and Cup finals will be played at 10.28am.
