FRU disappointed with Nagusa decision
Nagusa was not allowed to board the flight to Russia for the World Cup 7s by the Immigration Department this morning.
The Fiji Rugby Union said it is disappointed that Nagusa was prevented from boarding the Korean Air flight.
The FRU said according to Immigration Officials at the Nadi International Airport, they were acting on a Stop Departure Order placed on Nagusa by the Sigatoka Magistrates Court over a case classed as Family Action and dating back to 14th March, 2013.
However, according to information received by the FRU from the Sigatoka Magistrates Court, all payments due to be paid by Nagusa to the female applicant in the case were duly made in March and there was no further order preventing Nagusa travelling with the team.
The FRU said officials at the Sigatoka Magistrates Court also claim the Immigration Department in Nadi failed to update their records in relation to Nagusa’s case.
The Fiji Rugby Union said if comments from the Sigatoka Magistrates Court are accurate, then it shall be seeking an explanation and seek compensation for the cost of a new air ticket for Nagusa’s travel to join the team in Moscow.
The FRU also said desperate calls made this morning to the Director of Immigration’s office in an effort to clarify the matter prior to the team’s departure, went unanswered.
We have contacted the Immigration Director.
He is yet to comment.
