It is evident now the Fiji Rugby Union could be making some changes to their selection criteria in selecting the Digicel Fiji 7s team to Hong Kong in March.

Fiji Rugby Union CEO, Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua, had earlier indicated in a press statement, dated 17th January, 2008, players interested in representing Fiji in Wellington and Hong Kong - were required to participate in the BP National 7s - that was held in Lautoka on the 19th of January.

However, in an interview after the Wellington 7s last night on our sister station Viti FM, Games Committee Chairman Rafaele Kasibulu said that the final squad to Hong Kong will be named after the Marist 7s in March.

Kasibulu adds that even though the enlarged 30-man squad for Hong Kong will be trialed in the Marist 7s, any other player who excels on the day is likely to be selected meaning that the door is still open for Naitasiri "Hit man" Lepani Nabuliwaqa and wizard Waisale Serevi.

Meanwhile, overseas based players, such as William Ryder, Mosese Volavola and Semisi Naevo are the only exceptions for missing out on local tournaments due to club commitments but could be considered for Hong Kong.
