The Fiji Rugby Union has confirmed that they will only select the national Under-18 sevens team from the earlier squad that was announced last month for the Youth Olympic Games.
This has been confirmed to Fijivillage by FRU’s Development Manager Sale Sorovaki after the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union submitted another list of names for the Youth Olympics.
Sorovaki said they had to name a squad to meet the deadline given by the games committee for all the names to be submitted before the 30th of April.
The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union announced their training squad on the 24th of May which was way past the deadline of the games committee.
Secondary Schools Rugby executive member, Biu Colati said the final decision comes from FRU and they only submitted names to help them with their selection.
The Youth Olympic Games will be held in China from the 16th to the 28th of August.
