The Fiji Rugby Union has called on Commerce Commission to treat them fairly.

In a statement today, the FRU has alleged that the Commerce Commission has acted unlawfully and with little regard to anything except self-promotion.

CEO Keni Dakuidreketi said the Commerce Commission does not have powers to fine the FRU $125,000 as it may prosecute an offender and ask a court to impose a fine.

Dakuidreketi then goes on to say that the most disturbing aspect of this whole saga is the Commission's unending appetite for publicity.

He said the commission has a legal responsibility to investigate any alleged offence in a fair and responsible way and should not conduct a trial by media.

Meanwhile, the Commerce Commission has called on a press conference today in relation to the matter.
