Digicel Fiji 7s coach, Iliesa Tanivula's contract expires at the end of the current IRB 7s series and the power to axe him is only with the Fiji Rugby Union board.
Those were the words of FRU's Development Manager, Sale Sorovaki in last night's talk back show on our sister station Viti FM.
While many callers questioned on whether FRU can exercise their powers like they have done in the past, Sorovaki said they have to wait for Tanivula when he gives his explanation to the board on what went wrong in Hong Kong and Australia.
Sorovaki added that many rugby followers are still comparing the achievement of the 1990's team that won 3 years in a row in Hong Kong to the current era but they should understand that times have now changed.
The Fiji 7s team arrives in Nadi at 7pm this evening.
Fiji lost to South Africa 24-12 in the Cup quarter final of the Australia 7s yesterday.
Fiji later lost to Wales 22-21 in the plate semi final.
