The Fiji Rugby Union has appointed the Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni, as Community Director, a position more commonly known as the Prime Minister's nominee.

This post was vacant for quite some time and it was highlighted by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama that no one from FRU had approached him for his nominee.

FRU Chairman Bill Gavoka is confident Teleni's nomination to the Board will play a significant role in developing the game further across the communities and particularly among the youth.

He said Teleni's deep understanding of the youth, education and sports programmes will be put to good use at FRU.

Meanwhile, FRU has also named its former board member and senior Reserve Bank official Rafaele Kasibulu as replacement for deputy chairman.

Kasibulu has replaced Keni Dakuidreketi who has resigned from the board in order to take up the full time position of FRU chief executive officer.
