The Fiji Rugby Union board is unaware of reports now surfacing that two Fiji 15s team officials were allegedly smoking marijuana in Australia before the test match against the Wallabies on June 9th.
When questioned by Village News on the players speaking to the Planet Rugby website on the incident where the two officials were left smoking in the hotel room with the team leaving in the bus to the Australia game, FRU Chairman Keni Dakuidreketi said he is unaware of these reports.
However, Dakuidreketi admits that the matter needs to be investigated.
When questioned on what the FRU is doing to protect the image of the FRU and Fiji rugby as a whole, and whether the Fiji 15s players will be called in to tell their side of the story, Dakuidreketi said that we should not make the situation look like a court proceeding.
Meanwhile, in a report on the Planet Rugby website, two Fiji players, who opted to remain anonymous, said that the team bus was delayed from leaving their hotel before the game against Australia on June 9th while the two Fiji team officials smoked the drug in the hotel.
One of the players told Fox Sports that many will not comment on the issue for the fear of being victimized and since they got tired of waiting, Captain Alifereti Doviverata gave the directive for the bus to leave and not wait for the two officials.
