The Fiji Rugby Union has confirmed that it will roll out and trial 13 of the 23 Experimental Law Variations (ELV's) at the Federation of Oceania Rugby Unions Under-19 tournament scheduled to kick off at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi on September 3rd.
High Performance Unit Manager Peter Murphy said this will be a great opportunity for Fiji Rugby to implement and witness the new laws trialed for the first time in Fiji.
Some of the laws that will be trialed are in the Lineout and Throw where a quick throw may be thrown in straight or towards the throwing team's own goal line.
There is no restriction on the number of players who can participate in the lineout from either side.
Players are able to defend a maul by pulling it down and Lineout players may pre-grip a jumper before the ball is thrown in.
The Under-19 FORU tournament kicks off in Nadi on 3 September.
