It's good news for the Fiji Rugby Union that their funding for the 2009-2011 period has been increased by the International Rugby Board.

FRU will now receive $1.9 million pounds, which is $5.6 million Fijian for the 2009-2011 period.

They received $800,000 for the 2006-2008 period but requested the IRB to double their grant for the next four years.

The IRB has increased the funding for Fiji after their superb performance in the Rugby World Cup where they played in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, IRB had also increased the funding for Japan and Samoa and they both will now get $2.2 million pounds while Tonga is maintained at mid-level funding of $1.05 million pounds.
