FRU Reaches Agreement With Serevi
Serevi met with FRU Chairman, Keni Dakuidreketi, CEO Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua, coaching director Ilivasi Tabua, the 3 selectors Dan Lobendhan, Mosese Taga and Vuata Naresia on Monday afternoon to clarify issues and settle differences in relation to the selection.
The FRU said the meeting went for 2 hours and provided an opportunity for the parties involved to bring to the floor their concern and offer solutions and come to a compromise in the best interest of Fiji rugby.
Tabua acknowledged national 7's coach Waisale Serevi for raising his concerns and he added that each individual raised his concern which was discussed during the meeting and he was pleased they have come to an agreement.
Tabua maintained the criteria for the selection of the team was not based only on fitness and playing ability on the field but also the attitude and bahaviour of the player off the field.
He says both Rupeni Caucau and Lemeki Duidomo did not meet this criterion but they still have a chance to prove themselves worthy of selection in the future tournaments.
According to the FRU statement, National 7's coach Waisale Serevi welcomed the ruling saying he was pleased the two experienced players have been given another chance to return to the playing field for Fiji.
Serevi is now preparing the Fiji 7s team for the Dubai 7s on the 30th of next month.
