The Fiji Rugby Union has been given additional funding by the Interim Government for the Rugby World Cup.

The Cabinet meeting yesterday agreed to give an extra $111,000 to the FMF Flying Fijians, apart from the $400,000 already allocated to them.

The decision was based on a submission by Interim Sports Minister Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi and said the additional sum of $111,000 will ensure that the needs of the players during preparation for the Rugby World Cup are provided for.

Meanwhile, FRU will now be looking for $189,000 more to cover all local expenses that include ongoing preparations prior to departing for the World Cup in France.

They requested for extra $300,000 from the Interim Government.
