The Fiji Rugby Union board is expected to name one of their development officers to assist Digicel Fiji 7's coach Waisale Serevi for the IRB 7s series and to defend the Melrose Cup in March.

After Serevi signed his contract on Tuesday night, FRU will announce in the next few days who is to help him in preparing the team before the naming of the training squad for the Dubai 7s.

Former 7s coach, Josateki Savou has been ruled out of the job although he was the only other candidate interviewed by the FRU Games Committee when they advertised for the post.

It is likely that Osea Umu who coached the Fiji Barbarians team to the Safari 7s in Kenya, will get the nod to help Serevi in guiding the 7s team.

Meanwhile, the position of the 7's manager could be known next week with either Maretino Nemani or Aisake Malo getting the post.
