The Fiji Rugby Union has maintained that after a review of the FMF Flying Fijian 15s rugby team’s performance in the Pacific 6 Nations Cup, it was decided that there should be changes made to the coaching staff.

FRU CEO Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua said that the allegation surfacing that backline coach Iliesa Tanivula was dropped because of the marijuana allegation and a drinking party before the game against Australia A are not correct.

Tavanavanua adds that after the board looked at the whole team’s performance in the Pacific 6 Nations, it was evident that the backline was playing below standard and they had to make changes to the backline coach.

He added that Iosefo Bele is not new to the coaching job as he has guide the Naitasiri backline team for the past season and also holds an IRB level 3 coaching certificate.

The FMF Flying Fijian 15s rugby team will march into camp at Holiday Inn tomorrow.
