Lawyer representing Fiji Rugby Union CEO Keni Dakuidreketi and FICAC have been told to come up with a proposal which would allow Dakuidreketi to travel in and out of the country without having to go to the courts.
Dakuidreketi is currently on bail pending trial for alleged abuse of office and fraud and has previously been given permission by the High Court to travel overseas for official duties and one of the conditions is that he must return his passport when he returns to Fiji.
He has made submissions before Judge Justice Daniel Gounder to allow him to obtain his passport for travel when required without having to make fresh applications in court.
However, Justice Gounder said there are other accused persons in a similar situation and he cannot give special consideration to only one case and stated that he will not make a ruling on the matter.
Instead, Judge Gounder has instructed both parties to come up with proposals after mutual agreement which would allow Dakuidreketi speedy access to his passport and how he would inform FICAC and the court of his travel details.
The two parties meet later today.
