The Fiji Public Service Association and the Fiji Teachers Union have filed a trade dispute with the Ministry of Labour over the restoration of the remaining four percent pay cut for its members.
FPSA General Secretary Rajeshwar Singh confirmed to Village News that they lodged the dispute on Wednesday. Singh refused to comment further and hung up the phone.
However, FTU General Secretary Agni Deo Singh confirms that they are taking this action as the interim government has not honoured the agreement they had signed earlier this year.
Singh said they want the Labour Ministry to try and resolve the issue through its Trade Disputes machinery. He said they will then decide on further action if the process fails to resolve their grievances.
The Public Service Commission and Labour Ministry are yet to comment on the matter, however, it has been confirmed to Village News that the unions stance will be relayed to the interim cabinet at its meeting on Tuesday.
