The Fiji National Rugby League is eagerly awaiting the ruling from the Rugby League International Federation Board on the new rules of player eligibility.

The new eligibility rule will allow players playing for tier one nations be available for their home nations only if they are not selected by their respective national teams.

For example if Akuila Uate is not selected to play for Australia then he is eligible to feature for the Fiji Bati.

FNRL's General Manager Tomy Finau said this new rule will help Fiji secure top players for next year’s Rugby League World Cup in October.

So far overseas players that have shown interest to join the Fiji Bati next year are Petero Civoniceva, Lote Tuquri, Jarryd Hayne, Sisa Waqa, John Sutton and Marika Koroibete.
