The Fiji National Rugby League is awaiting clearance from the Rugby League International Federation for robust winger Akuila Uate to play for Fiji in the Rugby League World Cup.
FNRL General Manager Tomi Finau said Uate has already confirmed his availability but there are certain rules they have to follow to secure his services.
Finau added that they are optimistic that Uate’s clearance will come in time for the World Cup.
Meanwhile, other players that have confirmed their availability include Petero Civoniceva, Lote Tuqiri, Darryl Millard, Marika Koroibete, Jason Bukuya and Sisa Waqa.
Fiji is in Pool A with defending champions Australia, England and Ireland for the Rugby World Cup in October.
